The largest public sector bank in India has recently issued a notification regarding the recruitment of SBI PO (541 vacancies). There are no significant changes in the SBI PO Exam Pattern for the current year. Here are some of the important factors regarding both the exam pattern and syllabus for SBI Probationary Officer recruitment exam.
The preliminary examination of the SBI PO 2025 comprises of 100 questions from Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. The main examination of SBI PO 2025 comprises of Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and interpretation, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language and a descriptive test. SBI PO Exam Pattern: Stages
The SBI PO 2025 selection process includes three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interview.
Prelims Exam (100 marks, 60 mins)
- English Language: 30 questions – 20 mins
- Quantitative Aptitude: 35 questions – 20 mins
- Reasoning Ability: 35 questions – 20 mins
- Negative marking: 0.25 for each wrong answer
Note: Prelims is qualifying in nature and does not count toward final merit.
Mains Exam (250 marks)
1. Objective Test (200 marks, 3 hours)

- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: 40 Qs – 50 mins – 60 marks
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: 30 Qs – 45 mins – 60 marks
- General/Banking Awareness: 50 Qs – 45 mins – 60 marks
- English Language: 35 Qs – 40 mins – 20 marks
Negative marking: 0.25 per wrong answer
2. Descriptive Test (50 marks, 30 mins)
Letter and Essay Writing
Interview Round
Group Exercise (20 marks) + Interview (30 marks)
Final merit is based on Mains + Interview scores.
