APSCHE Initiates Curriculum Framework Focused on Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence for Higher Education aligned with NEP 2020.

APSCHE has recently planned an innovative curriculum framework which will mainly focus on Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence. The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) constituted a committee of experts to initiate this comprehensive curriculum framework. This is a flagship initiative that is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The prime vision of APSCHE, with the integration of Quantum Computing and AI is to establish Andhra Pradesh as a national hub for tech-led education and innovation.

Dr. JBV Reddy, the head of Quantum Technology Cell at the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to lead this newly formatted committee. The inaugural session of this committee was held under the leadership of Prof. K Madhu Murthy, Hon’ble Chairperson of APSCHE and coordinated by APSCHE Secretary TV Krishna Murthy. The committee has unanimously approved the launch of 03 minor degree programs as follows.

  • An 18-credit minor in Quantum Technologies for engineering students
  • An 18-credit minor in AI, open to both engineering and non-engineering students
  • A 16-credit minor in Quantum Technologies for students from general disciplines

The said meeting also highlights the importance of Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence. Prof. K Madhu Murthy shares the most ambitious goal to transfer Amaravati, the proposed capital city of Andhra Pradesh into a ‘Quantum Valley’.

APSCHE Meeting Highlights

  • APSCHE to launch a Faculty Development Programme to ensure effective course delivery.
  • Around 500 teachers from fields like Physics, Electronics, Mathematics and Computer to be trained under this program.
  • Collaboration of tech giants like TC & IBM will be a supportive factor for this initiative.
  • Dedicated Quantum Labs are to be developed across major institutions of Andhra Pradesh.
  • To enhance the overall ecosystem, APSCHE is looking forward for partnerships with IITs & IISERs.
